Kartik Uchil
Since graduating from architecture school, I find myself trying to perfect the skill of finding the simplest solution to things. Working in Japan was not only an enriching life experience, but it also helped me understand design as a function of how things can work when you break them down to the absolute.
Five years of architecture school was essentially a grooming session for the design critic in me. I find myself constantly observing everything around me, be it the typography on the cafeteria's logo or the gorgeous shade of mauve on their upholstery. Experiencing and talking design is exhilarating while questioning (and appreciating) other designers' choices has become a quiet hobby.
Having worked on projects ranging from luxury residences in Tokyo, boutique offices in Indore to restoring an old Portuguese house for a fine-dine restaurant in Goa, I've experienced design across a multitude of perspectives and styles and gained a crisp understanding of visual communication, graphical compositions, and spatial planning.
I’m an avid admirer of the Scandinavian and Japanese design sensibility, keenly learning from their palette compositions and detailing. Well designed furniture and good graphical compositions excite me as I try to reflect my curiosity in the artistic world, in the spaces I design
